Dry embossing, or using an embossing machine to create a raised pattern or design on your paper can be done using 2-D or 3-D embossing folders, with a piece of cardstock or paper placed in between the two plastic sides of the embossing folder.
Heat embossing on the other hand, uses a watermark ink which is then covered in embossing powder and melted using a heat tool. This creates a beautiful shiny 3-D effect on your cardstock.
